We just can't be good enough to initiate a relationship with God. We can't hope our way into a relationship. Saying we're Christians and serving in church isn't good enough. Knowing about God isn't enough.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23
Jesus said that He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. We can't come to God our way, it has to be through Jesus.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
The Bible says that we were sinners in need of a savior. God sent Jesus and Jesus went to die on a cross to pay for the sins of the world so that whoever believes in Him and accepts what He did could know God.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Being born again means to give God all of your life and all of your heart. It means that you've not only believed in Jesus' work on the cross but that you've whole-heartedly committed yourself to Him.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Pray this prayer from your heart:
"Father God, I come to you and thank you for Jesus. Today and forever, I believe that Jesus Christ is your only begotten son, that you sent Him for me and that He died for me. I repent from my sins and receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior today and forever. My sins are washed away and I'm free forevermore. Let it be known that today and forever I am saved, washed by His blood, alive, and have the victory of His cross. I'm born again, headed for heaven, and a child of God. Thank you, Jesus!"
